A Tragic Wreck by T. K. Leigh (The Beautiful Mess series book 2)

Synopsis

How can you continue living when you’re living a lie? How can you convince your body to stop feeling, your soul to stop caring, and your heart to stop beating?

Haunted by her past, Olivia Adler flees Boston for a beach in Florida, leaving everyone behind, trying to shut the world out. Remaining a relative recluse in her self-imposed prison, she tries to turn everything off, wanting to feel nothing. But a new acquaintance won’t let that happen. After being away from Alexander for a month, his voice constantly ringing in her head, reminding her that her inability to confront her demons will not only destroy her, but also him, can she really be expected to want to feel again when it brings nothing but pain?
Back in Boston, everywhere he turns, Alexander Burnham is reminded of Olivia… His Olivia… He tries to dull the ache left in his heart the only way he knows how… in the bed of a beautiful woman. But Alexander isn’t about to lose his Olivia. After a clue comes to light regarding Olivia’s whereabouts, can he convince her to return to Boston with him? When a force that has laid dormant for months resurfaces, can Alexander still protect her from the unknown danger? And when Alexander comes face to face with a shadow of both his and Olivia’s past, will he be able to tell her the secret that is threatening to tear them apart?

Review

Okay so... I was just the tiniest bit disappointed by this book, it was really good don't get me wrong but, it is definitely not what I was expecting based on the synopsis or prologue of this book. There was A LOT OF SEX which I avoid reading most of the time, as I say for A Beautiful Mess  I don't read the sex parts because is just not my thing but the story line is good. So Olivia leaves because she doesn't trust her feelings and that Alexander will stay because of what he said "It will destroy me too" and so she bases her departure on making Alexander's life better without her.
She was a bit disappointing because in some parts I saw her as a (pardon for my following word selection) whore. Yep, she had sex with this guy Cam because she just didn't want to feel any more of the pain. Through out those chapters I was just kind of screaming to the book and Olivia, "why don't you just go back to Boston and make up with Alexander" both were suffering, so, what was the big deal?
On the other hand we know that Alexander has swear and swear that he has always waited for his Olivia, and he just decides that he is getting married with this other girl that we didn't know a blip about, and then Olivia is back trying to get him back and he keeps telling her no, knowing that she has troubles. So this is just a messed up part of the story that could have been written a bit differently without so much of repetition of the same thing, love, sex, fight, crying, and over again. At some points was just really boring, and again Olivia doesn't find out about her past, and she doesn't know she is been living in a Lie her entire life.
Once again the story line was really good, with some boring parts, and things that could definitely been written better.
I give this second book a 3.5 stars out of 5 just because it had some boring parts but the story line still got me thinking on what will happen in the third and final book.

Fingers crossed for Gorgeous Chaos to be better than this one.

A Beautiful Mess by T. K. Leigh

Synopsis

What happens when you lose everyone that promised they would always be there for you? How can you protect the few pieces of your shattered heart that remain?

Olivia Adler is a woman with a troubled past. After losing her parents at the young age of six and being raised by an uncle who she lost years later, she refuses to get attached to anyone, including friends. For the past decade, she has been able to remain unattached to any man, too worried about losing someone to get too close. Until Alexander Burnham walks into her life one night and changes everything. But he has issues of his own. And he’s keeping a secret that could turn Olivia's world upside-down. Will Olivia let Alexander in enough for him to get close and protect her from a force threatening her very existence, or will she push him away, scared of letting Alexander in, in order to protect her heart?

A Beautiful Mess is the first installment of a three part series sure to captivate the heart with a story of secrets, courage, and love.

Recommended for ages 18 and up due to sexual situations, language, and mild violence.

REVIEW

If you are looking for something similar to Fifty Shades of Grey this is your book! A Beautiful Mess is the story of this twenty-seven year old Olivia who is a very strong woman, but is unable to make any sentimental attachments to any man, the relationships she has are only for the benefit of "getting laid" she likes it that way and seems to be perfectly okay with it. Her friends Kiera and Mo (Jack) are always on her back about doing things right, and finding a guy who she can love but she is just afraid to make such connection and then losing him.
Alexander on the other hand is capable of making a connection and actually wants it but with a girl who happens to be dead, yeap, or so he thinks she is dead, he has only loved one girl and that girl ends up being Olivia
They meet really weirdly but you know right from the get go that something is going on with Alexander, he saves her and right in that moment he thinks the brown-eyed girl is his Olivia, he does find out soon that in fact she is the girl who he though died more than twenty years ago and whom he has always looked for. He obviously falls right in love with her again, not that he ever stopped but he falls.
They have some weird relationship because Olivia doesn't really want to make the commitment of the relationship but at the same time she knows he is the only guy who can ever make her feel so alive.
They have a rather passionate relationship, with lots of sex, some fighting and Alex going crazy with her protection because he knows she is alive for a reason and is afraid he is going to lose her again.

The story line is great, it has you making assumptions, and guessing, and I believe that is the way a book should make you feel. It has a lot of sex descriptions so if you're one of those people that don't like to know it graphically, is something you might want to avoid reading (I know I did) but the story aside from the sexual content is great, so don't put this book in the "to never read" list, the story is something you might enjoy.
The ending is a shocker, but at the same time is something that is foretold, something that you thought might happen.

Do not get fooled by the synopsis this books don't really go with what it says in there but they have some of it .
A Beautiful Mess is a story worth reading and getting involved with, besides you are totally gonna want to know what happens in Tragic Wreck because this story has an amazing cliffhanger.

This book definitely deserves a 4.5 stars

Intro

This blog is just to post my ideas and thoughts on books that I have read over the past year,
I don't intend to be an amazing reviewer or anything like it, just want to express my feelings and maybe engage in a conversation with all those of you that like the same books, have the same thoughts on it or engage in a discussion about it!
